Dan Loves to Chat is a podcast hosted by Dan Geneen: one host, one guest, one conversation. Dan loves Art Deco, so we started there. We hand-illustrated him in a jazz-age style and paired it with type pulled from the same era.

The constraint was size. A podcast cover lives as a square the size of a postage stamp in a streaming app, next to hundreds of others asking for the same tap. Deco helps. It’s built on hard geometry and strong contrast, which survives shrinking in a way fine detail doesn’t. We kept the lines heavy and the type tight so the cover still reads as Dan at thumbnail size, and still reads as 1930s at full screen.
